Virginia wine country is something I never knew of before moving to the area a little under five years ago but it has become
one of my top two favorite things about where we live.
First thing is first I am by no means a wine connoisseur but I greatly enjoy learning about different wines …
and enjoy ... even more so when I am not pregnant … the wine tastings!
When we were newlyweds Casey and I went out to explore wine country together on one of the first crisp fall is coming days.
We checked out Cana Vineyards and Winery of Middleburg based on a recommendation he had received from a classmate in his master's program. They had recently gone said how awesome the view was and that they had a wine club that sounded like an incredible deal.
The view did not disappoint the tasting room was a brand new facility built to show up the views from two large outdoor space with a deck and upper balcony. There is a rolling hill area overlooking the grape vines and you are up so high you cannot see John Mosby highway down below just the rollings mountain like hills across the way.
The winery was buzzing but not packed and we were easily able to get a tasting picked out a bottle of Chambourcin wine, cheese and warm bread and walked out to the grassy lawn - saw two adirondack chairs calling out names. To our delight there was a perfect fire roaring in the pit just in front of these two chairs overlooking the vineyard and view of fall coming. It was a picture perfect setting.
We were greeted by Annette one of the owners of the winery who shared their story and start with us and was kind enough to take our photo. Needless to say we have been members ever since and we are sure to tell everyone about this gem and take everyone who visits there right away.
In the last few years we have changed a lot been there the first time, the unusually warm weather day between Christmas and new years with family, to expecting our first baby, back once she arrived to enjoy the views, several times since for her to run in the grassy area making friends, now expecting our second, looking forward to many more family memories to come.
Thank you Bell Family for finding this land - making it yours but making it this amazing place to share its beauty with all of us!
