September Home Maintenance Checklist
The arrival of September brings a month of transition from warm summer days to the arrival of cooler, crisper air. While you’re putting away your summer gear, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the moderate weather and do some outdoor home maintenance tasks before the first frost arrives. From cleaning up your garden to hosting a garage sale, here are some tips to help you get ready for the winter months ahead.
Clean Up Your Garden:
Remove dead plants and weeds.
Add Color to Your Garden:
Plant mums, Black Eyed Susan's or Ornamental Kale to enjoy now. Be sure to plant bulbs now to add spring color to your garden.
Check for peeling or blistering paint. Prevent expensive future repairs by appluing a new coat of paint.
Host a Garage Sale:
Easy way to get rid of unused items. Be sure to donate those items that dont sell - you have already sorted them out of the house.
Prevent Water, Ice Damage & Heat From Escaping:
Caulk around windows, replacing dried out or cracked caulking. Install weather stripping on exterior doors.
