The Moment That Inspired a Move:

I was working in sales office for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Professional NBA team, our office team was given the opportunity to serve in the community over the holidays and we assisted several soup kitchens in the downtown area. It was something I had always wanted to do had not ever found the chance to until that December.

At the shelter, it was all hands on deck preparing for the evening meal then I was given the task of serving the green beans. With clear and simple direction to ask each person if they would like some - allowing them the choice to say yes or no. As the meal time began many crossed my path some taking the offer or beans other passing - then there was a gentleman who kindly responded "no thank you miss." I looked up and froze for a moment - although a stranger I only saw once his face is burned into my memory his eyes were kind, warm and sincere, the response was a simple one that in that moment had me speechless. That night driving home to my apartment I knew I was going make a big change and I made the decision to take what I had learned about sales and turn it into fundraising to better serve those people in my community. My parents were in northern Virginia and it seemed like fate that they would be living in the nations capital of non-profit work.

While typing this up I am realizing that I came here with such a conviction and that time has passed and my life has changed greatly since then but my heart still aches to do more for others.

So in an effort to do better I am committing my real estate business, extra time, and energy to lifiting up and supporting those incredible community organization serving my neighbors.
